The woman

There is always a lesson to learn when you watch “The Rifleman.” There is no better teacher for Mark than his father, Lucas McCain. Lucas teaches Mark from “The Bible” and from experience. Sometimes the lessons are hard ones and at times rather easy ones. They are still lessons learned! Let’s discuss the lessons learned in each episode. “Every lesson you learn makes you a better partner.” “Just remember the lessons!”

Adele Adams as a love interest for Lucas? Interesting :-|
Did the article say why the viewers didn't want to see that?

Would that mean Mark would then have two people buggin' him to do his homework?

Andy dated and married Opie's teacher - Miss Crump. Opie was practically a grown man when Andy and Helen got married.

I don't remember if a reason being given. My guess would be ladies wanted to be able to have guilt-free dreams about our lucasboy! Men wanted the rifleman to be unencumbered. Kids dreamed of having such a pa to themselves.

Yeahhh

And that's why "Ordeal" is one of my favorite episodes - Just Lucas and Mark!

I don't think Lucas was ready to let go of Margaret when Ann Dodd visited.

The writers did an excellent job with The Rifleman series. I just wish there could have been many more seasons and a few in color. :)

Ditto Deneen....I agree about the show being in color. that tall blue eyed blond Sodbuster in those tight jeans. I'm not sure i could take it. Even in The VIrginian reruns you can see how handsome James Drury is in color but he ain't no Lucas

Watching Chuck in the "Branded" series (without that military hair cut) was sometimes like seeing Lucas in color. Sooo very handsome - absolutely gorgeous! :giggle:

I love buzz cuts on both men and women! In my opinion, no other hairdo makes one look younger! I prefer lucas/Jason with the shaved head fuzzy head look!

I know it was supposed to be a pleasant debate and honest disagreement and difference of opinion, but... Lucas was not very tactful when he told the single career woman Adele Adams he felt women would be happier tending a home than worrying and bothering with government.

She probably died from all the aggravation and frustration! :ponderingcowboy:

I saw James Westerfield on something the other week. The part just did not suit him. He was a good guy, not the the nasty, arrogant guy we know on The Rifleman.
